For much of the 1900s, Lineberry Foundry and Machine Company rapidly produced and supplied four-wheel carts to furniture, textile, and other factories across the Southeast. Initially based in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, the company later expanded its production to Wilkesboro, meeting the high regional demand.
The industrial age has long since passed; however, what it left behind is a genuine item of functional art. These carts seamlessly fit into various settings, including lofts, country farmhouses, beachfront homes, cabins, or hunting lodges, complementing all styles of homes. The timeless appearance of these Antique Factory Carts will not only add a touch of history to your home but also serve as a focal point in any room. Essential Hardware Components for Lineberry Cart Restoration:
The Deluxe hardware kit includes authentic-style plain steel hardware such as round head, square neck carriage bolts in two sizes, split lock washers, square head nuts, and steel cotter pins for securing the front and rear caster shafts during reassembly. Additionally, it contains original-type common nails in two sizes for refurbishing the oak wood frame and deck boards when undertaking a full restoration.
Our replacement hardware precisely matches Lineberry's specifications for the original factory cart. The only noticeable difference from the hardware used in the assembly of the original cart is the nuts, which were square head rather than hex head, as used in later versions referred to on our website as Type-1 and Type-2. The Original Lineberry factory cart can be identified by the lettering on the oak wood frame sides, as depicted below.
Complete Replacement Hardware Kit Overview:
Authentic Lettering Kit Original Type: Lineberry Factory Cart Tribute:
Crafted to faithfully replicate the stenciled lettering, font, and layout of the original Lineberry factory cart, this design pays homage to the iconic craftsmanship of the Lineberry Foundry & Machine Company.
For your convenience and protection while applying flat black paint over the stenciled template, this package includes one pair of medium-duty XL Nitrile disposable gloves.
The sturdy and reusable one-piece Mylar stenciling template is designed to lay over the cart's side frame, ensuring a clean application of flat-black spray paint. Laser-cut to replicate the original cart's lettering found on the oak wood frame sides, as depicted below, this template guarantees an authentic finish.
Taping Tools and Included Hardware Accessories:
Essential for drilling and tapping precise holes in the side of the front and rear cast-iron caster wheel mounts, as well as for cutting the internal threads required for installing the extended point set screw. These tools are indispensable for accurately leveling, positioning, and securing the cart's front and rear caster wheels.
The original Lineberry factory cart design featured front and rear casters with shafts that could slide vertically within the caster wheel frame mounts. This design relieved weight from the ends during turns, enabling the cart to pivot tightly. Each caster mount is secured to the factory cart's wood frame with four 2-1/2" carriage bolts on either end of the frame.

Purchased one of these Lineberry factory carts from Wayne, and I must say that it exceeded my expectations. You can definitely see the detail and time that he puts into restoring these beautiful pieces of history. And the quality is unmatched compared to other carts I have seen online for less money. He restores every piece of these carts, even down to re-threading the nuts & bolts so they are 100% original. I would definitely recommend paying the extra amount for one of his carts. Wayne Walker,
Owner
Factory Cart Restorations, spearheaded by lifelong craftsman Wayne Walker, is a venture rooted in five decades of experience in construction and woodworking. Wayne's extensive background includes ownership of companies in Southeast and Southwest Florida, encompassing both the manufacturing of custom millwork, also design and build general contractor situated in Boca Raton and Sarasota.
The genesis of Factory Cart Restorations emerged when Wayne, upon sale and closing of a factory he owned, recognized the untapped potential of the Factory Trucks, also known as Factory Carts, which had faithfully served in his wood Moulding and millwork plants for many years. These carts, having transported countless tons of goods across shop floors, held sentimental value, yet faced limited market prospects for their original design.
Determined to breathe new life into these industrial workhorses and elevate their charm, Wayne conceived the idea of repurposing them into unique furniture, specifically coffee tables. While not a groundbreaking concept back when he started the venture in 2010, it had yet to gain widespread popularity by presenting an opportune niche.
Drawing upon his wealth of manufacturing experience, Wayne embarked on creating top-tier Factory Cart Restorations. The success of this endeavor marked a significant turning point. A burgeoning trend emerged, capturing the enthusiasm of those seeking an enjoyable and challenging restoration journey. Wayne, having achieved success, now generously shares his knowledge, experience, and sources with others through a comprehensive instruction manual, serving as an invaluable resource for those embarking on their Factory Cart restoration adventure.
A comment from Wayne:
"It has truly been my pleasure collaborating with Factory Cart Restoration over the past several years. Navigating numerous challenges to achieve the perfect look and ensuring that all elements seamlessly come together has been a rewarding journey.
What particularly resonates with me is the notion of breathing new life into these magnificent old workhorses of industry. Many have faced abandonment and even discardment, but each one we rescue adds to the promotion of renewable resources.
Genuinely pleased to contribute to all those who share a similar passion for what have now evolved into timeless treasures. "
